What is Puqs All About?

Puqs.com is a horse racing blog that provides it’s visitors with 100% free horse racing picks and tips for tracks across the United States. The site was started in early 2011 and continues to grow each and every day. Puqs has always taken great pride in providing picks and selections that are absolutely 100% free and they will remain that way for the lifetime of the site. You’ll never see Puqs charging money for memberships or asking you to purchase some silly, fly-by-night “guru” system. We are one of the only horse racing sites on the web that offers thoughtful and insightful picks for free. We hope you’ll enjoy them.

Who does the picks?

Puqs.com is ran by Jay; a 25 year old male living in the great city of Cincinnati, Ohio – which is fairly close to River Downs and Turfway Park. Although relatively young, Jay has been visiting River Downs and other races tracks since the time he was a toddler. He provides roughly eight years of experience with picking horses and continues to learn more and more about the sport of king’s every single day he cracks open the Daily Racing Form. He does not use any sort of number’s system or other pre-determined method when making his selections. He treats each race uniquely and always puts in a thorough analysis before posting his final decisions.

Often times Jay will receive insight from his close horse racing handicapping friends. These friends are the “old-timers” that live and breathe horse racing and are completely ok with having their picks published alongside Jay’s. The more handicapping minds put together, the better chance we have of helping you pick a winner!

How to read our bet selections.

Our picks are typically posted as a string of four “legs”.

The 1st and 4th leg of any bet is designated as an exacta play. (1-2-3-4 / 1-2-3-4-5-6 ) Typically this will cost you $20 for a one-dollar ticket.

The 1st, 2nd and 4th leg of any bet is designated as a trifecta play. (1-2-3-4 / 1-2-3-4 / 1-2-3-4-5-6) Typically this will cost you $24 for a $0.50 ticket where allowed. It will cost you $48 for a $1 ticket.

When selecting our exotics, we will usually find one or two horses that are “most likely to bash our exotics”. These horses are usually bet straight up on a Win/Place/Show basis and/or placed into the 1st, 2nd or 4th string of our bet when noted as such.
