Horse Picks and Predictions for Belmont Park
Sunday – October 09, 2011

We had a bunch of picks to post for Belmont Park today but we ended up sleeping in and missing a ton of races. There’s still 27 minutes to post as of this update for the ninth race, so we’re going to get this last bet on and then switch our focus to all things Santa Anita as you can see in the post below!

Race #9: 5-10-9-7 / 5-10-9-7-1 / 5-10-9-7-1-3 and a WPS (safety bet on the #4 Sea Road) who is definitely useable in this race. It’s not a cheap bet so if you want to hold off and focus on some of our more reasonable plays at Santa Anita, we also encourage that.

Horse Picks and Predictions for Belmont Park
Monday – July 04, 2011

Hey everyone, we just got back from our weekend getaway and had just enough time to go over the remaining races at Belmont and Churchill for today.

Belmont has 20 minutes till the 6th race as of this update, so we’re going to be focusing on the 10th race, which should give you plenty of time to compare your notes with our own. Best of luck and Happy 4th of July to all of our fellow handicappers!

Race #10: 5-11-3-1 / 5-11-3-1-4-9 / 5-11-3-1-4-9 and the horse that could most likely upset our exotics is the #10 Satwa Tune. If you have the money, go ahead and use this shipper.

Belmont Park Picks

Horse Picks and Predictions for Belmont Park
Wednesday – June 29, 2011

Hello race fans, if you’re a returning visitor to Puq’s Picks, then you already know how much we love to play at Belmont. It’s certainly our number one track this time of the year and we’ve been doing fairly well here as of late. Today’s card offers up some decent value and we’ll be acting on some rather big, risky bets in hopes of big reward.

Scratches have been plaguing us recently, so come post time if there are even more scratches that end up killing our value, forget about any of these bets. Like we said, today is all about big risk, big reward, so… No value? No bet!

The way we structure our bets, it’s absolutely vital that we don’t have a ton of scratches to take away from our odds. In other words, we play the chalk (how can you not?) but we also play the “most likely to upset” horses as well. Best of luck to our fellow horse players!

Race #4: 2-5-6-8

Race #5: 2-1-3-4 / 2-1-3-4-8 / 2-1-3-4-8-6 / 2-1-3-4-8-6 – The #7 Celebrity Sighting is a Dutrow horse and could very well be in there today. Come post time, we may or may not be using this horse. If you’ve got a deep pocket today, please consider it as insurance, or at the very least a side WPS bet.

Race #6: 8-6-5-1

Race #7: 7-2-5-6

Race #8: We’re looking at a play on the 5-2-3-4 and deciding on where to throw in the #1 Mine Over Matter. We’re going to throw down a WPS bet on the #5 Xodo – we really like this horse, especially at 10-1 morning line. Let’s see what those odds say come post time! Very evenly laid out field here, it’s a wide open race so if you don’t feel comfortable with the exotics, shoot for the #5 WPS bet! :)

Race #9: 2-3-4-5-8 / 2-3-4-5-8 / 2-3-4-5-8-7 / 2-3-4-5-8-7 This is a doozie of a race right here, ladies and gentlemen! The #1 Vamel has plenty of early speed and with Cohen on the rail and on the grass, this one might surprise. If this horse gets away he has a shot of winning it, so we may end up using him if we feel the need come post time. Remember to visit this page to see how we structure our bets). Don’t feel like digging into your pockets like we’re dreading? Do a WPS on #1 then!

The #1 Vamel has plenty of early speed and with Cohen on the rail and on the grass, this one might surprise. If this horse gets away he has a shot of winning it, if he gets jammed up, well, we’re still using him in our third slot (2nd slot on our exacta bet, remember to reference this page to see how we structure our bets). Don’t feel like digging into your pockets like we’re dreading? Do a WPS on #1 then!

Ok so we’ve got one race we’re interested in at Belmont today. It’s going to be a pricey play but we’re hoping the tote board will approve. We’re going to wait till the final minutes to get this bet live, if there are late scratches and/or no value… kill it.

Race #9 First of all, we think the #4 Caught My Heart could sneak in there somewhere for a surprise. So maybe a WPS bet is in order. Consider it our lonshot bet of the day! Otherwise we’ll stick to exacta’s and trifectas. 9-8-3-6 / 9-8-3-6-2 / 9-8-3-6-2-7
